FAIRFAX, VA – The AFCEA Professional Development Center (PDC) is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with RFID4U®, the world leader in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) education, to offer online professional development courses.

The AFCEA PDC is excited to broaden its course offerings to AFCEA members and the IT community by partnering with RFID4U® to provide the following online courses and packages:

  • RFID Technology Basics (Free Course)
  • RFID and DoD/UID Compliance (Free Course)
  • RFID+ Practice Exam: Test Drive (Free Course)
  • CompTIA RFID+ Certification Package
  • Zebra RFID eLearning Courses
  • Asset Tracking using RFID
  • RFID in Pharma
  • RFID Solutions Building
  • RFID in Apparel
  • RFIDQ® on the Web

The free courses are available to AFCEA members and non-members. RFID Technology Basics helps students understand the fundamentals of RFID technology and provides an overview of RFID hardware, including different types of tags, tag frequencies, readers, and antennas. The middleware and EPC network and current mandates are also addressed. In RFID and DoD/UID Compliance, students will learn what unique identification (UID) is, how it is created, and which items must be marked with UID. It also discusses the RFID mandate, becoming an essential course for anyone who wants to learn more about the RFID policies and mandates the U.S. Department of Defense has posed on its suppliers.

The RFID+ Practice Exam allows students to test the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) Authorized Quality Curriculum-approved RFIDQ® Exam Simulator. The 90-minute exam is timed and graded like an actual exam. There will be a score report with a grade at the end of the exam.

The paid courses include a certification package, asset tracking, solutions building, and other industry-specific RFID training. Many offer course-labs that are based on highly interactive simulation and animation that provide a near real-world experience on the student’s computer. Demonstrations and exercises are interactive and require high user participation. Course and package costs vary; AFCEA individual members receive a five percent discount on all courses. Reduced rates for active military/government students are available to members and non-members.

Details and course registration is available at www.teamrfid.com/afcea. As an introductory offer, the first five RFID500 certification package buyers will receive a CompTIA RFID+ voucher worth $258 each.
